1st Appointment: Hearing Evaluation and Hearing Aid Evaluation
If a hearing evaluation has not been performed in the past six months, we will conduct a complete audiometric evaluation. This is a series of tests designed to determine hearing status and your candidacy for hearing aids. The tests could include:
- Otoscopy - Looking into the ear canal with a light to make sure there is no build-up of earwax or drainage in your ear canal.
- Tympanometry - A test to determine eardrum and middle ear health.
- Tonal Audiometry - A series of tones will be presented at different intervals, frequencies and loudness to you through headphones and you will be asked to respond when you hear a tone. This will determine the softest you can hear across the frequencies 250-8000Hz.
- Speech Audiometry - You will be asked to repeat a series of words presented through headphones.
- Results - If you have hearing loss, we’ll talk about the effects on your lifestyle.
- Realistic Expectation - We’ll talk about your communication needs as well as realistic expectations for hearing aid use.
- Hearing aid options, technology and pricing
- Impression - After you choose a hearing aid, we’ll make an impression of your ear if necessary so we can order hearing aids that will fit. We can dispense the open fit BTE hearing aids in the office if they’re in stock. These hearing aids do not require an earmold impression.
- We will ask you to pay $150 non-refundable depost per hearing aid when you order them. The remainder of your balance will be due at your hearing aid dispense, which is typically scheduled 1-2 weeks after the order is placed. Click here to schedule your first appointment
2nd Appointment: Hearing Aid Dispensing
- We’ll fit your new hearing aids for your ears, ensuring a good and comfortable fit.
- You’ll receive detailed instructions on the use and care of your hearing aids. Then you’ll practice inserting and removing your hearing aids as well as changing batteries.
- We’ll make fine tune adjustments if needed.
- You’ll also hear suggestions on getting used to wearing hearing aids and how to get the most benefit from them.
- The remainder of your balance on your hearing aids will be due at this appointment.
- Your 30-day satisfaction/trial period will begin with this appointment. If you decide to return your hearing aids within this 30-day trial period, in order to receive a full refund, minus the $150 per ear nonrefundable dispensing fee, the hearing aids must be returned in good working order before the end of your satisfaction/trial period.
3rd Appointment: Post-Fitting Check
- We’ll schedule a post-fitting check about two weeks after you receive your hearing aids.
- You’ll receive an opportunity to discuss your experiences with the hearing aids, how they sound and how you are doing with them.
- We will most likely increase the gain of the hearing aids at this visit, and can make any fine-tune adjustments you may need.
- If you have any questions about cleaning and care of your hearing aids, we’ll help you with this.
